Wrap and Yap

What is Wrap and Yap?
This is an event where library guests are invited to come in and wrap presents.

Description:
This season, we're here to help you get your presents wrapped and ready! Get into the holiday spirit and wrap your gifts in the shared company of others. We will provide the supplies; all you need to bring is a pile of unwrapped presents and some friendly chatter. Whether you're celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, a birthday, or anything in between, all are welcome.

Oh, what fun it is...to spend a fun morning wrapping presents, listening to holiday tunes, and learning about everyone's holiday traditions!

What I did to prepare

I was lucky to have someone in our community that donated lots of old wrapping supplies. I did buy a few rolls of wrapping paper, hot coco, and hot cider. Other than that, everything else was donated!

Set Up
I set out all the supplies and put 6 tables together for a a large surface. I also made a drink station for hot coco, cider, and water. We had holiday music going for the whole event. Gathering all the supplies onto two carts was difficult part of this event. Everything else was wrapping my presents and chatting with guests. This event was 2 hours which was a good amount of time for the people that came.

Takeaway
There were not many people that came to this event. Those that did had a good time and got all of their wrapping done. They had fun and got an annoying task done with the community of others instead of having to do it alone. I ended up chatting for the whole 2 hours about holidays, birthdays, traditions, and how they have changed traditions. If you copy this event and are expecting a lot of people, definitely get more tables. Even with the small amount of people we had, we almost had to break out more tables. This was an easy event for us and helpful for our guests.
