Monthly Wrap Up for June 2025

Working during the summer at a public library can be hectic. The past two summers seemed like a breeze compaired to this one! There was one week where I had 4 events that I had to plan or host on top of the things I need to do everyday. I decided to take an impromptu break from writing for this blog. I'm back now and I have a lot to write about! I'll start with the books I read.

May TBR Revisited

Fearless by Lauren Roberts - Finish the trilogy
For Whom the Belle Tolls by Jaysea Lynn - almost 700 pages
The Midnight Library by Matt Haig
A Fate Forged in Fire by Hazel McBride - 400 pages
Caught Up by Navessa Allen

To get that last Goodreads bookmark, I'm going to read one or more of the following:
When the Tides Held the Moon by Venessa Vida Kelley - 460 pages
The Broposal by Sonora Reyes
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab - 560 pages

I got all the bookmarks!!

I was able to read 11 out of the 13 - 16 books I listed for June.

Reading Stats for June

I can definitely see when summer reading started since I read nothing for the frist 5 days of the month. June 6th was a Friday as well! I did read quite a bit of manga in June. However, I am surprised that the format is a 50/50 split. Good month all around.

Books Read in June 2025

 Fearless by Lauren Roberts ★★★☆☆
I can see why people like this series but it's too much of a classic YA series for me personally. The story  ended so sadly for one of the charaters I liked. Good series but not my favorite.

A Man and His Cat, Vol 13 by Umi Sakurai ★★★★☆
I will read these everytime a new one is published in English. It deals with grief, joy, helping others, and falling in love with the life you have right now. I love this series!

Lord Hades's Ruthless Marriage, Vol. 01 by Ueji Yuho ★★☆☆
This was cute. It felt like a YA books again and I think I'm just tired of the genre right now.

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Jaysea Lynn ★★
This didn't fell as long as it is. I liked the relastionships between all the characters, even the house. The ending was also very good and I was worried for a good chunk of the book that I wouldn't like what happened. Definitely worth the read if you like romantasy.

The Crimson Crown by Heather Walter ★★☆☆
This is from my long TBR list and I finally picked it up. I wish this was shorter but it was entertaining. I didn't like it enough to pick up book 2.

The Midnight Library by Matt Haig ★★★★☆
Loved the concept of this story. I found Nora to be hard-to-please and a bit of a wet blanket at times. I would like to know more about the other person she met on her travels.

Otaku Vampire's Love Bite, Vol. 1 by Julietta Suzuki ★★★★
Super cute story. I'd like to read the other books.

How I Met My Soulmate Vol. 02 by Anashin ★★★★☆
This is also a cute romance manga. I'm glad they are college age instead of high school.

A Fate Forged in Fire by Hazel McBride ★★★☆☆
This is a romantasy with dragons that I enjoyed. There was a lot of worldbuilding that was persented as this is how it's always been, dumb dumb. The rest of the series isn't out yet and I'm on the fence about reading more.

Caught Up by Navessa Allen ★★★★
I liked this one more than Light's Out. The characters were well developed and had a lot of depth. I did dislike the miscommunication that happened throughout the book when one person had too much pride but I don't like that in real life either.

Just Like Mona Lisa Vol. 01 - 04 by Tsumuji Yoshimura ★★★★☆
This is about a world where each person gets to choose their gender as they grow up. The main character is in high school now and hasn't changed yet and it turns out that not chooses might kill them. I egarly await more of this series to come out in English.

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schawb ★★★★
I love vampires and this was great. It has family drama and romantic drama. It's also part historical fiction and jumps between different POVs which gives in a bit of a time travel feeling to it.

Brighter Than Scale, Swifter Than Flame by Neon Yang ★★★
This one wasn't able to keep my attention as strongly as some others. I liked the world and the MC but I was a bit disapointed when I called the ending early in the book.

The Broposal by Sonora Reyes ★★★★
I filped between kicking me feet and being filled with rage throughout this book. It talked about immigration and abusive ex's while still developing their new relationship. I enjoy a romance that is rooted in reality so I loved this book.

Summery

This was a good month for my reading even though I was quite busy the whole month! I didn't give myself a TBR for July and just read what I felt like reading. I hope you had a great summer and happy reading!
