May TBR Revisited

Goodreads started a new challenge that lasts until June 30th. Three of these bookmarks were just about reading a certain number of books. They were easy to get! A mystery one was unlocked on May 15th and the other was unlocked on June 1st.

Emily Wilde #2 and #3 by Heather Fawcett ★★★★★ and ★★★★☆
These were great additions to the series. I enjoyed them both quite a bit!


The Dangerous Convenience Store Vol. 2, 3, and 4 by 945 ★★★★☆, ★★★☆☆, ★★★★☆
I liked watching their relationship grow. There is also quite a bit of angst along with their joy. The fourth one ends on such a cliffhanger too!
     Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner ★★★★★
I loved this book! It's a memoir ties together culture, food, and the love of a mother. It made me want to cry and it was great.

Blob: A Love Story by Maggie Su ★★★☆☆
Vi's life is sad and boring until she finds a blob outside a bar and forms an emotional attachment to it.

The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leong ★★★★☆
This is a cozy adventure story about a person that can tell smaller fortunes like what's happening next week. It was adorable and a great read. 


 
     Reckless by Lauren Roberts ★★☆☆☆
This is the second book in the trilogy. This one dragged it's feet (almost painfully slow at times) but had a great ending. 



May TBR

I'm a little behind on my yearly reading goal so I'm planning to pick up some manga alongside the thicker books I'd like to read. I've also put quite a few books on hold through my libraries and I'm hoping to get to all of them this month. I tend to have a reading spike over the summer so I have high hopes that I can get to most of these. Wish me luck!

Scavenger Hunts

I have recently made all of my scavenger hunts for one year and wanted to share them in case anyone needs ideas! I started doing these in April. They were so popular that I made two for the summer months since kids were coming in more often. If you are planning to start your own hunt, I'll describe what I do now after a few months of trial and error. I make all the designs in Canva. My library pays for a Pro account which makes it a lot easier to make these. I started off making these too small. We got so many complaints because they were too hard to find. I now make them about the size of my palm and give them a white background so it isn't as hard to find. I learned very quickly that we needed two sets of each theme. We had a few bunnies and weather clouds walk away which makes the hunt impossible to complete. Summer Reading Ideas: Color Our World 2025

I've been thinking about some special events I can do this summer that either fit the color theme or sound like fun for me and the guests. This year I am in main contact for most of our museum events so I can't create every event I would like to. If you don't know, many libraries work with local organizations and museums. This can happen all year long but the summertime is our busy season so we try to fill it with fun things for everyone to do.  This is a list of my ideas both events and passive! Feel free to take any of these to make your own.  Rock Painting We have a Kindness Rock Garden at the front of our library that I was able to get set up last year . I want to have a painting event where I provide rocks, paint, paint pens, and brushes. Passive Art Puzzle I found these blank puzzle pieces on Amazon and would love to have guests color a piece and add them to the puzzle. Dog Man Day

What is Dog Man Day? Dog Man fans of all ages are invited to join the supa epic event with activities and games. We'll play Dog Man bingo, a personality test, assess your sniffers, and more. Dog Man is Go! That don't make no sense! But we like it! I first came across this idea from a post from Ontarian Librarian . She was able to get a Comic Creator booklet and some other cool items to make her event a hit. I took a few of her ideas and made them my own but she is the reason I made this event. I learned about Dog Man Day after Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea came out. Scholastic made an event kit with lots of activities. I read through them and picked the ones I knew I could do. With the power of these two sources, I was able to put together a plan for my own event. What I did to prepare I would say that reading at least one Dog Man book is a requirement for running this program.
