Slime Day

Image
What is Slime Party? Make slime at the library! I did this event last year as well and you can read about how that went here . Description: Get ready for a day filled with fun, creativity, and learning as kids dive into the magical world of slime. Kids will get to explore different ways to make slime and create their own to take home. This is going to get messy! What I did to prepare I purchased a lot of supplies again. This has been my most expensive event this year. The good news is that it's mostly common items such as stickers and glue. I bought 2 gallons of clear glue , 1 gallon of slime activator ,  200 containers with lids ,  clear filler beads , food coloring , tiny food charms , and rhinestones . This was around $150. I already had shaving cream, lotion, essential oils, pompoms, tiny foam balls, and glitter. For other supplies that did not go into the slime, I had aluminum trays, measuring spoons, play dough toys, and stickers. Now, I listed many items here....

Children Reading to Dogs

Image
What is Children Reading to Dogs? This is an event where kids can read to a certified theapry dog. This helps kids to think that reading is fun and works on their self-confidence. Descrption: Want to be a more confident reader? Build "pawsitive" self-esteem and improve your reading skills while reading aloud to certified therapy dogs at the library.  This program is intended for children learning to read and practicing reading aloud. What I did to prepare The biggest hurdle I have had with this program is getting the dog teams. My library system requires the dog and handler to go through a short interview process where we can see their therapy dog certification and insurance. Due to the pandemic a few years ago, dogs where not getting trained. The system as a whole has been putting out calls for dog teams for at least 2 years at this point. Now I have 3 dog teams where my events are their first experiences. They have all been great and have come from good orgiazations. I star...

A sweet middle-aged man is looking for someone to love and it could just come in the form of a chubby cat at the local pet shop. The cat in question has been at the shop since he was just a baby. He's watched other pets get adopted one by one while he was left behind. He feels like he's destined to be unwanted and unloved. That is until he's adopted by Mr. Kanda.  Since losing his wife, Mr. Kanda has felt lonely, but adopting a cat had always been her dream. He names the cat Fukumaru, which means joy. Together, they will learn to heal from their shared loneliness and discover that it's never too late to find happiness. This manga is lighthearted, emotional, and funny. If you have a cat, or any pet, you’ll fall in love with this story. Mr. Kanda and Fukumaru’s adventures are heartwarming and cozy, a testament to the bond between humans and their pets.

Review: A Holly Jolly Diwali

Niki's parents are worried that she doesn't go out to meet people. She hasn't made a new friend or had a boyfriend in quite some time. She is a perfectionist who has just been laid off after years of always doing what was "right." If this way of living hasn't paid off, maybe she should be more spontaneous. She does just that by calling her friend Diya to see if she can still make it to her wedding in India, only a week away. Niki arrives in time to celebrate Diwali and all the wedding events. There she meets  "Sam from the Band," and they are immediately drawn together. Between celebrations with Sam, she starts her job search. When a promising offer finally comes through, Niki must decide whether to return to the stable life she's always known or embrace a new, more unpredictable path, one she would have never even considered before. This is an adorable holiday book that is lighthearted and thought-provoking. Niki’s character development shines...
